STOCKHOLM — Scandinavian entertainment giant Modern Times Group has tapped Irina Gofman as chief exec of its Russian and CIS subsidiary.
Gofman will be in charge of the company’s free and pay TV activities in the region, including its 39.5% share in CTC Media, Russia’s leading TV company.
Hans-Holger Albrecht, MTG’s prexy and CEO, said that due to the rapid expansion in Central and Eastern Europe the company had decided to appoint separate CEOs for each territory rather than one boss for the whole region.
Gofman most recently served as managing partner, media, at ESN, a direct investment and management company.
Gofman had previously been CEO for Russian Internet company Rambler Media.
Before that she was chief operating officer of Russian TV network DTV, also owned by MTG, and played a key role in launching Viasat Broadcasting’s pay TV channels in Russia.
