The Weinstein Co. has filled a key spot on its exec roster by hiring Yari Film Group vet David Glasser as prexy of international distribution.
He replaces Glen Basner, who ankled over the summer.
Glasser rates as “one of the true superstars in foreign sales,” Harvey Weinstein said in announcing the hire.
Along with serving as Yari’s chief creative officer, Glasser ran Syndicate Films, Yari’s foreign sales and production arm. In 2003, he formed a strategic partnership with Germany’s Splendid Media, where he sold and produced such projects as “Narc” and the “Agent Cody Banks” pics.
Glasser will oversee TWC and Dimension international sales, marketing and distribution and will seek to expand the company’s homevid and TV activities. He will oversee recently upped foreign sales execs Michael Rothstein and Jonathan Kier and report to Bob and Harvey Weinstein as well as chief operating officer Lee Solomon.
“This is a great opportunity for David, and he moves on with my blessing and full support,” said Yari Film Group head Bob Yari.
