Sony, Embassy take ‘Money’ for U.S.

Duo nab gameshow format

Sony Pictures Television has bought gameshow format “Take the Money and Run!” from Metronome-owned production company Friday TV.

Embassy Row will produce the format. Shingle has an overall deal with Sony, channeling its development through the studio.

Recent projects have included the Drew Carey-hosted gameshow “Power of 10” for CBS and the Game Show Network’s “Grand Slam,” hosted by Dennis Miller.

Embassy Row CEO Michael Davis said: “This is a totally new TV format mixing the gameshow concept with entertainment and total lunacy. It has been created by one of the most exciting companies in the international TV market and we are really happy to produce and introduce the format on the American market.”

2waytraffic, owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, has sales rights in the U.K., Latin America and Asia.

Metronome is the largest group of companies producing TV and films in the Nordic countries. It operates in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
