Best Buy exec Jennifer Schaidler has been named executive VP, sales, at Sony BMG, where she will oversee the combined physical and digital sales division.
Schaidler will be the company’s chief liaison to physical and digital retailers and work with labels to develop sales initiatives. Based in New York, she will report to Thomas Hesse, president, global digital business and U.S. sales.
Most recently, Schaidler was VP of music/MP3/mobile electronics for Best Buy. Starting in 2006, she developed Best Buy’s strategic business plan for music, including CDs, digital music and MP3s. She joined Best Buy in 1991 and, besides the music and mobile phone arenas, she also served as vice president/general manager for Redline Entertainment, a Best Buy subsidiary dedicated to the creation of music and homevideo content.
“Jennifer understands retail better than just about anyone else in the business, and her extensive knowledge and experience will be a strong asset for Sony BMG,” Hesse said in a statement.
