U.K.-based Premier PR is shutting its Los Angeles satellite office.

The five employees that staffed the office have been told that the office will close Sept. 30.

Chairman John Reiss said the outpost was established to better serve its international clients. But after operating for four years, the L.A. office wasn’t making enough money to justify the expense.

Studios are handling more of their international work in-house, which cut down on the need for a Hollywood presence. Premiere’s U.K. ops are unaffected, Reiss said.

He said that Pam Godwin Austen, who ran the office, will become a consultant along with another staffer, and they will stay on to wind down the L.A. operation.
