Jacobs, Kramer join UTA board

Duo solidifies agency's leadership

United Talent Agency has named Tracey Jacobs and David Kramer to its board of directors.

The ascension of Jacobs and Kramer solidifies leadership atop the agency’s motion picture talent and lit departments. It also provides a much-needed sense of stability after board member Nick Stevens and partners Sharon Sheinwold and Lisa Hallerman made a turbulent jump to Endeavor two months ago.

At the time, Jacobs — whose client roster includes Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman, Mike White, Lasse Hallstrom, Greg Mottola, Dan Clowes, Vincent D’Onofrio and William Petersen — stepped up to run the agency’s film talent division along with agency chairman Jim Berkus and David Guillod.

Kramer was already head of UTA’s motion picture lit department, with a writer-director client list that includes John August, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, Michael Goldenberg, Curtis Hanson, Charlie Kaufman, Ehren Kruger, Harold Ramis, Ken Kwapis, David Self and Robin Swicord. Kramer’s also been the primary agent for Judd Apatow — a longtime UTA client who hasn’t yet declared his future agency affiliation.

Jacobs arrived as a partner at UTA from ICM in 1998 and becomes one of the few women to reach a board position at a major agency.

Kramer started in the mailroom in 1992, fresh from USC’s Peter Stark program. Kramer becomes the second UTA member to rise from mailroom to boardroom. Jay Sures was the first to complete that feat several years ago.

Rounding out the board are Berkus, Peter Benedek and Jeremy Zimmer.

“Throughout their respective careers, Tracey and David have earned the highest respect not only from their clients, but also from their UTA colleagues and peers throughout the industry,” said Berkus. “We value their great judgment and longstanding roles in helping to grow both colleagues and clients.”
