With Billy Idol, a great gift bag and its proximity to the Nokia Center, the “Entertainment Tonight” party sponsored by People drew hundreds of guests Sunday to Disney Hall.

Before Idol took the stage, Dave Koz performed upstairs in the patio area while bizzers checked their Blackberrys and chatted noisily. Food stations and bars saw to it that attendees were well fed and watered; for dessert there was a Crumbs cupcake stand.

“The party is great; Billy Idol — how can you go wrong,” said Neil Patrick Harris.

“Things are good. I’m omnipresent,” he said referring to his Emmy nomination, the success of “Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay” as well as the “How I Met Your Mother” reruns deal. “If next year could match this one, I’m very happy.”

Among those enjoying the festivities were Chi McBride, Jerry Offsay, Masi Oka, Terry Crews, Kathy Griffin, Paula Abdul and Showtime’s Matt Blank.
