Disney bulks up Euro supergroup

Executive signings become effective in April

Disney Media Networks has announced four appointments to further strengthen its management team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The exec signings, which become effective in April, follow February’s Mouse House creation of a Euro super-group integrating program and channel distribution and new-media deals and headed by Tom Toumazis as exec VP and managing director.

Catherine Powell has been upped to senior VP, program distribution, for the northern parts of EMEA. Based in London, she will power content sales in the U.K., Germany, France, Nordic territories, Israel and Benelux.

Program distribution in the southern territories will be overseen by Francesca Tauriello, who was promoted to senior VP, EMEA South. She will handle key territories including Italy, Spain, Central and Eastern European, and will be based in Rome.

These two appointees replace Jim Brehm, who is ankling after two years at Disney-ABC Intl. Television.

Seasoned Disney exec Maria Kyriacou has been promoted to senior VP of new-media distribution, EMEA and Canada, while Adam Tow has broadened his legal brief, becoming VP of business and legal affairs, EMEA and Canada.
