CNN and MTV are hooking up for a cross-network television event — featuring a pop concert and special news programming — spotlighting U.S. veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Event ties in with MTV’s newly launched lobbying initiative on behalf of vets, called the Bill of Rights for American Veterans petition, which aims to get elected officials to support veterans’ issues and swiftly enact positive changes .
“A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the Brave” will be taped in Gotham on Oct. 23, and will air on MTV the following night. Performing live will be Ludacris, 50 Cent and Saving Abel, with taped performances or appearances by Kanye West, Kid Rock, Angels + Airwaves, Fall Out Boy, Juanes, Nelly, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Will Ferrell, Cameron Diaz, Common, Fat Joe, Seth Green, Elizabeth Banks, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, James Marsden and Wyclef Jean.
CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” will air a primetime special on Oct. 25 focusing on the stories of several young vets and the challenges facing them.
