Cable’s taking that whole “cradle-to-the-grave” strategy literally.
While upstart channel RetirementLiving TV continues to gain distribution, on the opposite end of life the infant-targeted BabyFirst TV has just secured some big-time cable coverage.
BabyFirst, which carries simple, educational fare for babies and toddlers, just signed a carriage deal with Time Warner Cable. Channel is already seen on DirecTV, Dish and several Comcast, Charter and AT&T systems. BabyFirst also is distributed internationally to more than 90 million homes.
The channel has some parents and pediatrician groups feeling uneasy, as the debate over how much TV babies should watch has been a fierce one. But BabyFirst TV says its child development programming is created under the guidance of education and pediatric experts.
