Co. has invested $92,865 in planning company

TOKYO — News Broadcasting Japan, the Japanese rep of News Corp., is launching a digital broadcasting start-up, the company announced on Tuesday.

NBJ has invested $92,865 in a planning company called BS Fox, while appointing Yoshitsugu Koizumi as topper.

By July of 2011, when Japan switches completely from analog to digital broadcasting, NBS plans to have BS Fox up and running as one of the 10 to 20 digital broadcast satellite broadcasters skedded to be licensed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Contents will come mostly from Fox and other overseas broadcasters.   

All the coin for the new company has come from NBS instead of foreign sources to comply with Japanese regs regarding applicants for new digital BS broadcasting licenses.      

Launched in 1998 by New Corp., NBJ operates six communications satellite channels in Japan, including Fox and National Geographic.
