Road Grosses

NEW YORK — The road grew about 8.5% in Week 8 (July 14-20), bringing the total gross for the 13-show slate to $14,268,034.

Certain tuners banked big numbers this week. “High School Musical” saw a big uptick moving to Kansas City, drawing $1,108,073, nearly $215,000 more than last week, and San Diego’s “The Phantom of the Opera” took in $180,000 more than last week, bringing its total to $1,055,342.

Others didn’t fair as well. “Avenue Q” moved to Greenville, S.C., and pulled in only $346,421 — $105,000 less than last week in Fort Worth, Texas, and the usually improving “Wicked” bowed in East Lansing, Mich., and took in almost $245,000 less than last week, but still pulled in a high $1,247,877.

“Jersey Boys” continues to smash Cleveland records, raking in $1,883,450– $106,000 more than its gross potential and this week’s top grosser.
