O’Neill Theater lines up cabaret

Event runs July 30-Aug. 9

The O’Neill Theater Center’s Cabaret and Performance Conference has lined up offerings from Maltby & Shire, Amanda Green, Penny Fuller, John Epperson (aka Lypsinka) and jazz singer Allan Harris for its annual summer run.

Event, part of the concurrent group of O’Neill development programs including the National Playwrights Conference and the Musical Theater Conference, runs July 30-Aug. 9.

Offerings include one-night-only showcases of marriage-themed song cycle “A Time for Love” by Richard Maltby Jr. (“Ain’t Misbehavin’ “) and David Shire (“Big”), performer Fuller’s “The War Between My States,” Epperson’s “Show Trash” and “Does This Song Make My Ass Look Fat?” from songwriter Green (“High Fidelity”).

Also on the bill is Harris’ “Cross That River,” the musical story of an ex-slave who becomes a cowboy in the Wild West, with songs by Harris and book co-written by Harris, Pat Harris and director Andrew Carl Wilk.
