‘Now or Later’ coming to U.S. in Nov.

Christopher Shinn's play hopping pond to Hartford

First chance to hear Christopher Shinn’s latest, “Now or Later,” now playing at London’s Royal Court Theater, will come during Hartford Stage’s “Brand:NEW” play reading series Nov. 6 to 20.

The play by Shinn (Pulitzer finalist for “Dying City”), centering on election night in a U.S. presidential campaign, has been extended for its Brit run until November.

Also featured in the series are Craig Wright’s “Mistakes Were Made,” Elizabeth Egloff’s “The Ether Dome” (about the inventor of anesthesiology), Daniel Beaty’s “The Story of Rowland Hayes,” Quiara Hudes’ “Elliot, A Soldier’s Fugue” and a sixth play still to be named.

As a special event there will be an “10/10/10,” evening of 10 10-minute plays marking the 10th anniversary of the festival on Nov. 10 featuring shorties by Edward Albee, Horton Foote, Suzan-Lori Parks, Theresa Rebeck, Eve Ensler and others.
