Five honored with grants

U.S. Artists Fellowship hands out prizes

Five legiters were among the 50 recipients of the 2008 U.S. Artists Fellowship grants, including writer-composer-performer Will Power (“The Seven”) and lighting designer Jennifer Tipton, a recent winner of a MacArthur “genius” grant.

Also on the list of stage creatives were thesp Karen Kandel (Mabou Mines’ “Peter and Wendy”), helmer and Oregon Shakespeare Fest a.d. Bill Rauch, and thesp-writer-director Rosalba Rolon.

Winners of the USA grants receive $50,000 each. Coin also was given to creatives in architecture and design, crafts, dance, lit, media, music and visual arts.
