Stage and television director and teacher Norman Cohen died after a long illness July 19 in Los Angeles. He was 77.
Services will be held Thursday, July 24, at 12:15 p.m. at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.
A Chicago native, he graduated from Grinnell College and did graduate work in drama at Yale University. His directing career brought him to New York and ultimately Los Angeles, where he directed stage productions and episodic television.
For the last 18 years, Cohen taught and directed at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Most recently he spearheaded the school’s fast-growing film and television department.
Cohen is survived by his wife Dolores, two daughters and three grandsons.
Donations may be made to the scholarship fund that has been established in his name at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
