Susan Dietz, a longtime legit producer in Los Angles and New York, is joining Reprise! Broadway’s Best as producing director, succeeding Jim Gardia, who is moving to Northern California.

Dietz will work alongside artistic director Jason Alexander.

“Susan Dietz will be the ideal complement to the talents of Jason Alexander and brings to our organization a wealth of experience, expertise and contacts,” said Reprise! board president Lawrence Y. Iser.

As artistic director of L.A. Stage Company, she produced the West Coast premieres of Christopher Durang’s “Sister Mary Ignatius,” “Cloud Nine” by Caryl Churchill, Wendy Wasserstein’s “Isn’t It Romantic” and the world premiere of Penn and Teller.

She also ran the Canon Theater in Beverly Hills for 21 years and produced four seasons as artistic director of the Pasadena Playhouse.

Broadway production credits include Suzan-Lori Parks’ “Topdog/Underdog,” the revival of August Wilson’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”; “Steel Magnolias,” by Robert Harling; and last season’s “The Little Dog Laughed,” by Douglas Carter Beane and “Deuce,” by Terrence McNally.

She is currently developing “Being Alive,” an African-American Stephen Sondheim musical conceived and directed by Billy Porter. She serves on the board of Los Angeles Stage Alliance.
