Evokative acquires ‘Hansel’

Canadian distrib gains rights to Korean film

SEOUL – New Canadian distribber Evokative Films has acquired local rights to Korean movie “Hansel and Gretel.”

Pic, handled in int’l territories by Korean indie sales house Fine Cut, is a dark fantasy involving a man trapped in a creepy children’s fantasy.

Helmed by Yim Pil-sung (“Antarctic Journal”,) recently unspooled at Korea’s Puchon Int’l Fantastic Film Fest in July. It is set for a festival career that sees it close the Dragons and Tigers section of the Vancouver fest, and play at the upcoming London and Sitges fests.

Formed earlier this year as a home entertainment genre specialist which platforms its titles through limited theatrical releases, Evokative has already acquired Japanese title “Adrift in Tokyo” and French pair “Le Tueur” and “Black.”
