SITGES, Spain — Zip Films will produce helmer Jo Sol’s “Fake Orgasm,” a $1.3 million documentary about why people feign pleasure.

“Orgasm” will feature interviews with specialists, including UC Berkeley professors Judith Butler and Thomas Laqueur, and will be shot in several countries. It will be released theatrically in Spain.

” ‘Orgasm’ will kick off with a fake orgasm contest. We’ll then go on to explore the issue’s political, sociological and sexual dimensions,” Sol told Daily Variety.

A previous Sol pic, “The Taxi Thief,” a mockumentary based on the true tale of a man who stole cabs and drove them at night to make money before returning them the next day, established Barcelona-based Zip as one of Spain’s edgier shingles in 2005.

World preeming at San Sebastian film fest, “Thief” has become a cult film and a B.O. niche sleeper, grossing e270,000 ($364,000) in Spain.

Also on Zip’s slate is Peter Sehr and Marie Noelle’s “The Anarchist’s Wife,” a co-production with Partisan, KV Entertainment and Cine Boissiere that world preems in competition at Spain’s Valladolid Film Festival, which kicks off Oct. 24. Zip also is finishing production on Ramon Termens’ “Negro Buenos Aires.”
