LONDON — Protagonist Pictures, the international sales house founded this year by Film4, Ingenious and Vertigo Films, has added five pics to its AFM slate.
From Brit helmer Nick Love (“The Football Factory,” “Outlaw”) comes “The Firm,” a fresh take on Alan Clarke’s iconic 1988 TV film about soccer hooligan culture. “The Firm” is produced by James Richardson and Allan Niblo of Vertigo Films.
Brit actress Sam Morton makes her directorial debut with Tony Grisoni-penned coming-of-ager “The Unloved.” Funded by Channel 4, “The Unloved” is produced by Kate Ogborn with Andrew Eaton of Revolution Films as executive producer.
Debbie Isitt’s comedy for BBC Films, “Nativity,” about two schools vying to produce the best Christmas musical, stars Martin Freeman (“The Hitchhiker”s Guide to the Galaxy”) and Ashley Jensen (“Ugly Betty,” “Extras”).
Other additions to the Protagonist slate include two low-budget projects — Eran Creevy’s “Shifty,” about 24 hours in the life of a crack dealer, and Simon Ellis’ comedy “Dogging: A Love Story.”
