Lee Stollman takes Gotham gig

Longtime Endeavor agent moves to production

Longtime Endeavor agent Lee Stollman is exiting to join the Gotham Group as production executive and manager. His appointment was made by prexy/CEO Ellen Goldsmith-Vein.

Stollman will rep a handful of clients as a manager, but as the company’s production exec, his priority will be to shepherd and produce live action and animation film projects.

Stollman has been an Endeavor agent since 2002, where he most recently repped Alan Arkin, Steve Buscemi, Jessica Alba, Emilio Estevez, Kevin James, Steve Zahn, Michelle Yeoh, scribes Bob Fisher & David Hemingson, director Mathieu Kassovitz (“Babylon A.D.”), Conrad Vernon (“Shrek 2”) and blurb director Greg Popp.

Stollman, who spent 11 years as a WMA agent and started in that agency’s mailroom, said it wasn’t immediately clear if his agency clients will call him their manager. All of the clients are remaining at Endeavor, and some already have managers. Goldsmith-Vein said she recruited Stollman because she wanted to grow the company’s producing business, particularly on the live action side.

“Lee has been in the business almost 20 years as an agent, he’s got great relations with talent and he really wants to produce movies,” Goldsmith-Vein told Daily Variety.

Goldsmith-Vein first worked with Stollman while they were agents at WMA, but she said they became close after his client Kevin James guest-starred in “Elmo’s Holiday Spectacular,” which Goldsmith-Vein produced. The Gotham Group also is an Endeavor client.

The Gotham Group was formed by Goldsmith-Vein in 1994, and she said it manages around 400 clients in the animation business, including production companies Aardman and Vanguard, and such directors as Henry Selick (“The Nightmare Before Christmas”). Clients also include Danny McBride and director David Gordon Green (“Pineapple Express”), Danny Strong (“Recount”), Luis Mandoki and “Alvin and the Chipmunks” scribes Will McRobb & Chris Viscardi.

On the live action front, the production company most recently produced “The Spiderwick Chronicles” and represents a wealth of book publishers that include the children’s divisions of Simon & Schuster and Harper Collins, Houghton Mifflin, Dark Horse Comics and Platinum Studios among others.
