Bavaria takes Atef’s ‘Stranger’

Pic screens in Critics' Week

BERLIN — Bavaria Film Intl. has picked up international rights to Emily Atef’s “The Stranger in Me,” which will unspool at the upcoming Critics’ Week sidebar in Cannes.

Pic tells the story of a young couple who become parents for the first time and who are thrown into emotional turmoil when the mother Rebecca realizes that she is becoming a threat to the child.

Pic was produced by Berlin-based NiKo Film in association with pubcaster ZDF, Franco-German culture channel Arte and the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB).
