Lionsgate raises Jason Constantine

Exec upped to head of acquisitions

Lionsgate film exec veep of acquisitions and co-productions Jason Constantine has been upped to prexy of the department.

The eight-year company vet will continue to report to co-chief CEO and motion picture group prexy Joe Drake.

Constantine will supervise duties of his prior post, including tracking and buys of theatrical films, overseeing prebuy projects in various stages of development and managing day-to-day ops of Lionsgate’s acquisition team.

“Jason has a remarkable understanding of projects that play to our strengths as a brand and generate uncommonly good movies,” Drake said.

During his tenure, Constantine has been a critical dealmaker in grabbing hits like the gorefest “Saw” franchise and pics including “Crash,” “Girl With a Pearl Earring” and “Away From Her.”

The Constantine-influenced upcoming slate includes “Conan the Barbarian,” “Bangkok Dangerous,” “Transporter 3” and “Chilled in Miami.”

Prior to Lionsgate, Constantine was director of acquisitions at Trimark Pictures.
