L.A. chefs partner with fest

Club Culinaire chefs include Bosc, Le Balch

French food and French wine are de rigueur accompaniments for Gallic cinema, so for the last few years, the City of Lights, City of Angels fest has partnered with the Club Culinaire of French Cuisine for the opening-night reception April 14.

Chefs in the lineup include Mimosa’s Jean-Pierre Bosc, Josie Le Balch of Josie Restaurant, Neal Fraser of Grace and Jean-Francois Meteigner of La Cachette. Many of the chefs offer tastes of signature dishes, such as Le Balch’s mushroom quiche and Meteigner’s soupe de poissons. The event is always a hot ticket, and a great way to meet some top local culinary talent.

French chefs from the L.A. area are members of the club, which holds gourmet tastings all year long. But the org’s not just for chefs — most events are open to the public, including informal bistro dinners and lavish five-course chef a table dinners. Families are welcome at the French chefs picnic planned for June 8 in Griffith Park, featuring dishes from various regions of France, along with plenty of wine and kids activities. Picnic tickets are $50, with kids under 12 free.
