“Elf” producer Jon Berg has rejoined the studio ranks as senior VP of production for Warner Bros.

Berg, who has been running the Guy Walks Into a Bar shingle with Todd Komarnicki since 2003, steps into the slot vacated by Dan Lin who departed at year’s end to set up a shingle on the lot.

Berg will work closely with Kevin McCormick, newly named prexy of production for the studio. McCormick, who began talking with Berg about joining the studio several months ago, touted his new hire’s hands-on producing experience across a wide variety of genres and his solid relationships with filmmakers.

Berg will oversee a number of films through the development and production process.

He will retain producing credit on projects set up by Guy Walks Into a Bar, which include upcoming Eddie Murphy starrer “Starship Dave.” Komarnicki will continue to run the shingle with partner Matt Weinberg.

Before Guy Walks Into a Bar, Berg had a first-look deal at Universal, where he exec produced Denzel Washington starrer “Out of Time.” As director of development at the studio, he worked on “The Bourne Identity” franchise, the “American Pie” films and “Big Fat Liar,” among others.
