HONG KONG – Palisades Pictures, the U.S. group that acquired much of defunct U.K. and U.S. distributor Tartan, says it has reached an agreement with Fortissimo Films concerning a library of 30 movies.
Company said its Palisades Tartan UK LLC subsidiary had reached an agreement to extend its Blighty distribution rights to titles including “2046,” “Super Size Me,” “Capturing The Friedmans,” the original “Bangkok Dangerous,” and “The Eye.”
Although there was no statement on the U.S. rights previously licensed by Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based Fortissimo to Tartan USA, Palisades said “Palisades Pictures will continue to acquire titles from Fortissimo Films for its growing US theatrical and video distribution unit as well.”
“We are very proud of these films and extremely happy Palisades’ wonderful team will be continuing to bring these films to UK film lovers,” Fortissimo co-chief Michael J. Werner said in a statement.
Agreement with Fortissimo follows a similar accord between Palisades and Svensk Filmindustri concerning rights to Tartan’s UK rights to a package of films by Ingmar Bergman.
