Chinese American fest kicks off

Fourth edition of film festival held at DGA

The fourth edition of the Chinese American Film Festival gets under way today at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood.

Over its monthlong run through Nov. 30, the event will screen 43 Chinese movies ranging from recent hits “The Warlords” and “The Assembly” to arthouse titles “Sparrow” and “Loach Is Fish Too.” Substrands include Shanghai Films, Best Disney Children’s Films and Best Chinese Teenage Films. Fest also includes a smattering of Hollywood classics including “Casablanca” and “Giant.”

Organized by EDI Media, with Shenhart Entertainment, Rudy Morgan Organization, Dot Media, World Channel in San Francisco and the Sun Media Investment Holdings Group of Cos., fest will make use of 10 venues including Laemmle and Edwards theaters in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco.
