Fox Television Studios has launched its first digital series, the pop-culture entry “The Skinny: Fat-Free News.”
Project follows comediennes Nadine Rajabi and Natasha Leggero as they report trends and Hollywood gossip. Mike Gibbons (Fox’s “Talkshow With Spike Feresten,” also produced by FTVS) is exec producer.
FTVS will produce 13 episodes of “The Skinny,” which will be housed via its own channel on MySpace, as well as at Hulu. “The Skinny” will also be syndicated to sites such as YouTube, Metacade, Daily Motion and Facebook.
Jill Schwartz, FTVS’ senior VP of programming development, is spearheading the production with the shingle’s marketing and digital media senior VP Stefanie Henning.
“The Skinny” reps the first project to come out of FTVS’ new think tank, recently dubbed 15 Gigs, which has been quietly bringing in scribes, producers and talent to develop Web and TV projects.
Leggero’s credits include “Reno 911,” “The ’70s House” and perfs on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” and “Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.”
Rajabi is a standup who’s appeared on E! Entertainment shows; she also hosts National Lampoon Radio for XM Satellite Radio.
