HONG KONG — AETN Intl. has signed a string of video-on-demand and mobile TV agreements across Asia.
Company reached its first online deal in Japan with Digital Media Mart, which will make content from the History channel available on demand.
In South Korea it signed with IPTV platform LG to launch a History-branded VOD service and renewed an agreement with SK Broadband (formerly Hanaro) for VOD.
Earlier this year, AETN Intl. announced an agreement with Korea Telecom to launch the History HD VOD service on its IPTV platform MegaTV. The History brand and programs are now available in Korean on all three IPTV platforms.
Separately, company signed a deal with Korea’s TU Media to bring programs from History to TU’s satellite broadcast mobile TV service.
History has signed an agreement to launch a full channel on the Smart mobile TV service in the Philippines. Deal is AETN’s 21st such agreement with its 15th carrier.
Additionally, it extended its global portal agreement with MSN to include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
“Over the past 18 months, AETN Intl. has moved aggressively to build the presence of History, Crime & Investigation Network and BIO in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Fabienne Fourquet, AETN director of international digital media.
