Viggo Mortensen joins Dennis Kucinich today at a rally in Concord, N.H.
“I think he’s the best candidate to put the country back on track,” Mortensen said.
“He’s a person of principle and he’s shown, like many artists, that there’s a great depth there that involves love of country,” Kucinich said of his endorser.
The “Lord of the Rings” star endorsed Kucinich after the candidate was excluded from the ABC News debate over the weekend.
“When a television network has the power to decide which candidates
are ‘worthy’ of addressing the American people, it robs the American
people of their most precious right to the free flow of information and
dissenting points of view,” said Mortensen. “I am an
actor, but I am also a citizen and a voter who resents the control that
big money, big media, and entrenched political interests have in
deciding what I should see, what I should hear, and what I should be
allowed to think.”
And to back up his words, he appeared with Kucinich at a press conference and appeared with him on “Hannity and Colmes.”
A choice exchange came after Sean Hannity told Mortensen he would “forgive your politics” because his kids love “LOTR.” “You don’t have to. I’m not going to forgive yours.”
