Here’s a prediction: Tonight’s vice presidential debate between Sarah Palin and Joseph Biden will top the 52 million or so who watched the first presidential debate last week.
It’s not too bold of a forecast, given all of the attention that this matchup has generated, not to mention that it falls on one of the plum nights of the week for TV viewing. And if this debate is all about Sarah Palin, surely the Katie Couric interviews (another clip tonight) at the very least stoked curiosity.
Time features a roundup of ten top vice presidential debate moments, including matchups you probably can’t even remember taking place. Gore vs. Kemp in 1996 come to mind.
But there’s also this clip of George Bush and Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, where Ferraro accuses the vice president of “patronizing” her.
It’s proof that as much as the country’s attention will be on Palin and how she does, it’s also very much about Joe Biden.
