The Ad Wars: Obama’s Response

Updated

“Same old politics” is the Obama campaign’s counter to John McCain’s ad today that linked him to tabloid celebrities Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

Meanwhile, I just talked to a rep for David Hasselhoff, the target of yesterday’s GOP celebrity attack, who said she was perplexed as to what the RNC ad actually was. I tried to explain it to her, but she was still confused as to why it would be part of the campaign.

Per the Huffington Post, a rep for Spears says of McCain’s ad, “Why would we want to get Britney Spears involved in presidential politics?”

Obama himself said that McCain “doesn’t seem to have anything positive to say about me, does he? You need to ask John McCain what he’s for, not just what he’s against.

As for McCain’s effort link to him to Paris Hilton, Obama said, according to the AP, “I’ve never even met the woman.”

One more note: Several bloggers have taken note of the fact that McCain himself is celebrity. It is he, and not Obama, who got a TV movie made about him.
