That, and other news, in today’s (late and abbreviated) Political Panorama.

John McCain told “Fox & Friends” today that he would have preferred another moderator of tonight’s vice presidential debate than Gwen Ifill.

“Frankly, I wish they had picked a moderator that isn’t writing a book favorable to Barack Obama — let’s face it,” McCain said, per the Politico. “But I have to have confidence that Gwen Ifill will handle this as the professional journalist that she is.”

“Life isn’t fair, as I mentioned earlier in the program,” he added.

His statement is a tad different from the one he gave yesterday, in which he didn’t express doubts but merely praise for Ifill.

Another Springsteen Rally: Bruce Springsteen has added a Monday appearance at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich., to get out the vote for Obama. He’s performing on Sunday in Ohio.

More Michigan: As part of an Operation Registration drive, the Obama campaign is deploying Jay-Z, who is holding a concert in Detroit on Saturday, and has produced this video for Michigan that features Sean Astin, George Lopez, Adrien Brody, Will.i.am, Rachael Leigh Cook and Tatyana Ali.
