“I’ve always been a Hillary supporter,” John said. “There is no one more qualified to lead America.”
Then John told the crowd of some 5,000 people, “I never cease to be amazed at the misogynist attitude of some of the people in this country. I say to hell with them.”
In between songs — which included “Benny and the Jets,” “Candle in the Wind” and “Border Song,” John also cast his ire at Ronald Reagan’s lack of action in addressing AIDS and at the presidency of George W. Bush, comparing it to that of Richard Nixon, per Time’s The Page.
Also present were Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton.
When she got on stage, Hillary Clinton invoked John’s “Still Standing.”
She said, “What I want you to know is I’m still standing, and I believe this country is worth fighting for. So we’re taking our campaign to Pennsylvania and all the states that haven’t voted.”
