Grateful Dead for Obama; Heart NOT for McCain

John Clarke Jr. reports in Rolling Stone that the Grateful Dead will perform October 13 at Penn State. They actually headlined a San Francisco fund-raiser for the candidate suring primary season.

9cfb024128a0d10c4aaa6010lDespite protests from Ann and Nancy Wilson, the McCain campaign is continuing to play Heart’s "Barracuda" at campaign events, including one today.

"The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission," read a statement from Heart’s camp. "We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored."

The Republican party did pay royalities to ASCAP to use the music at the Republican National Convention.
