WGA to Leno: In case you lost ’em, here are the rules again

Leno_2 Earlier today, WGA prexy Patric Verrone told KPCC’s Larry Mantle that the Guild would have to “talk to Jay.”

Apparently they did. Here’s a brief statement from the WGA, just released moments ago:

“A discussion took place today between Jay Leno and the Writers Guild to clarify to him that writing for The Tonight Show constitutes a violation of the Guilds’ strike rules.”

Leno, of course, conducted an entire joke-filled monologue on last night’s show — something the WGA has said was pretty much a no-no. (Hmm, instead of admitting that he wrote all the jokes and ran them by his wife, maybe he should’ve claimed that Mavis came up with the yuks.)

Lenoemeril Tell you one thing that wasn’t scripted last night: That awkward hug with Chef Emeril (right).

Waiting to hear from the Leno camp on whether the late-night king will do another monologue tonight, or what the plan is.
