STOCKHOLM — Modern Times Group-owned companies Strix and Sonet Film are joining forces to co-produce TV drama for the Swedish and international TV markets.
Joakim Hansson, Sonet’s most prolific and successful movie producer, is headlining the project. Among Hansson’s hit pics have been Kjell Sundvall’s “The Hunters,” and Anders Nilsson’s “Executive Protection” and “When Darkness Falls.”
“We are cooperating to use each other’s knowledge and experience,” Hansson said.
Strix has been a successful producer of TV shows and reality TV but has not had as good a record producing TV drama. Sonet Film, on the other hand, has focused primarily on producing features.
Hansson told Variety that this does not mean that Strix and Sonet are merging, and that he will continue to produce features for Sonet. He is currently prepping a big budget spy movie to be helmed by Nilsson.
Hansson will work together with Renee Axo at Strix. He would not go into details regarding specific projects, but said they are pitching several projects to different TV channels.
