Sony output deal for Nine network

Studio pacts with Australian channel

SYDNEY — Sony Pictures Television has inked an output deal with Australia’s Nine Network, continuing the web’s relationship with the studio.

Deal will run until 2012 and covers new shows including “Cashmere Mafia,” “Damages” and “Viva Laughlin.”

“This deal complements the fact that Nine is producing more quality Australian content than any other network,” said Nine executive director Jeff Browne.

This week Nine bows “Sea Patrol,” a big-budget Australian drama.
