Anjelica Huston is joining the cast of NBC’s “Medium,” signing on for a six-episode arc of the CBS Par-produced drama.
Thesp will play Cynthia Keener, an investigator for a company called Ameritips. Her character will enter into an unusual business relationship with psychic mom Allison (Patricia Arquette).
Series creator Glenn Gordon Caron said that after creating the Keener character, he wanted to “find an actress who could hold the screen with (Arquette) while creating sparks of her own.
“The idea of writing for (both Arquette and Huston) as we enter our fourth season is exactly the kind of creative kick in the ass we relish on ‘Medium,’ ” Caron added.
Role reps Huston’s first network series gig since the early 1980s, when she appeared on a couple of episodes of “Laverne & Shirley.” More recently, on the cable side, Huston appeared in episodes of Showtime’s “Huff.”
Huston’s upcoming feature credits include Wes Anderson’s “The Darjeeling Limited” and the film version of the novel “Choke.” Last year, she appeared in the Liam Neeson starrer “Seraphim Falls.”
“Medium” is not on NBC’s fall schedule, but will return at midseason.
