CTV laughs it up with Comedy deal

Deal is first for Canadian TV

Canuck broadcaster CTV has snapped up exclusive broadcast and digital rights — including broadband, video-on-demand and mobile — to Comedy Central’s entire slate in a three-year deal.

Deal is a first for Canuck TV; networks had previously acquired online rights to U.S. shows individually. CTV will have access to some 200 hours of series, including “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and “South Park.” All Canadian Web traffic to Comedy Central’s Internet sites will be redirected to the Comedy Network site.
