CNBC leads at business Emmys

Network nabs eight nominations

CNBC led the nominations for the fifth annual financial and business reporting Emmy Awards, given by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in December.

CNBC was nominated eight times, including one nom for its coverage of the subprime mortgage meltdown, reported by Steve Liesman.

CBS News was nominated seven times, followed by PBS with six, CNN with thee, NBC News with two and Bloomberg TV with one nomination.

In addition, Bloomberg News chief Matthew Winkler will be this year’s lifetime achievement award recipient.

The most nominated show was CNBC’s “Business Nation,” which received four noms for “Miracle at East Lake,” “Prescriptions … and Payoffs?” “The 50 Million Dollar Con,” and “Legally Challenged.”

CNBC was also nommed for its docs, “Big Brother, Big Business” and “Game On: The Unauthorized History of Video Games.”
