HOLLYWOOD — Musician Chris Brown and thesps Regina King, Delroy Lindo and Mekhi Phifer got a jump on the holidays, promoting their”This Christmas” at Hollywood’s Cinerama Dome and Cabana Club on Monday night.
“What’s interesting about this picture is that I originally wrote it as a family reunion picture,” scribe-helmer Preston Whitmore said. “Then Tyler Perry did a film about a family reunion, so I changed (the setting) to Christmas. When you have a great script that you’re working with, it translates to any sort of environment, whether it’s Thanksgiving or Christmas.”
Phifer, who has a cameo in the film, became an exec producer after reading the script. “It came across my desk and I absolutely loved it. I wanted to be a part of it in a bigger way.”

Punctual Paley fete
HOLLYWOOD — NBC’s Dick Ebersol and Jeff Zucker were feted Monday night at the Paley Center for Media’s annual gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in what was a surprisingly fast-paced affair.
Among the presenters offering up well-placed and lighthearted barbs were Peacock employees Al Michaels, Brian Williams, Steve Carell and Kathy Griffin. Ebersol, NBC’s sports division topper, was kidded about his influence in the Olympic community as Williams mentioned, “He renamed Turin to Torino. That’s the kind of power Dick has.”
Zucker was quick with his thank you’s at the podium and, as a surprise, introduced musician John Mayer to play a few numbers before the evening came to an end.
