HOLLYWOOD — Alfonso Cuaron was down with the flu, but two of the Three Amigos were plenty when it came to giving everyone a great time at Simon LA on Feb. 7.
“Pan’s Labyrinth” writer-director Guillermo del Toro and “Babel” writer-director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu carried the flag for their fallen “Children of Men” comrade. The occasion was a multistudio Oscar celebration of their respective nominated films (which, conveniently enough, don’t contain category overlaps).
The evening’s hosts didn’t stand much on ceremony: Del Toro took less than a minute to thank the crowd for coming and then passed the mic to Inarritu, who burst into song.
Among those there to hear it were Aaron Eckhart, Heather Graham, Ron Perlman, Marc Abraham, Paramount Vantage topper John Lesher and “Babel” supporting actress nominee Adriana Barraza.
