HOLLYWOOD — In the last decade of honorees at the annual MS Dinner of Champions, Tom Sherak has looked to Sony (Howard Stringer, Michael Lynton and Amy Pascal); Fox (Peter Chernin, Bill Mechanic, Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman); and Disney (Joe Roth and Bob and Harvey Weinstein).
These studio connections have been lucrative: Those nine dinners raised a total of $27 million. (Add in 2005, when Sherak and wife Madeleine were honored, and the total is close to $30 million.)
At the Century Plaza on Monday, Sherak added Paramount to his list when marketing prexy (and his former Revolution partner) Rob Moore was honored at an event that raised $2.5 million.
“When you spend as much time with Tom as I did,” Moore said, “you see how important this work is to him.”
Dinner was emceed by Byron Allen and drew a 1,500-strong crowd that included Brad Gray, Stacey Snider and Michael Bay.
