HOLLYWOOD — “This is the Hollywood Bowl and synagogue all rolled into one” is how “Juno” helmer Jason Reitman described Westwood’s Mann Village Theater at the pic’s Monday preem.
A quick look at the theater’s sticky floors and worn seats could have left one questioning his lofty description, but Reitman made it clear the place was special to him. He held up ticket stubs from the theater that he said he’d saved from his teenage years. “I spent so many nights lining up outside this theater to see other movies,” he said.
If Reitman was impressed by the theater, he surely must have appreciated the Napa Valley Grille after-party decor, which depicted the different seasons; outside, faux snow covered the ground, while inside, orange and yellow leaves were spread around cocktail tables. And the drink of choice was a Juno favorite: blue slushies.

‘Atonement’ screens in New York
A four-letter word almost got between Universal and “Atonement.”
The pic’s helmer, Joe Wright, told the aud prior to Monday’s premiere screening at the IFC Center that U execs were initially unhappy about a word that appears during a key point in the film.
“They said, ‘You know, we really like this movie, but I don’t know about the “C” word because American audiences have a problem with that word.’ So I said, ‘What would you suggest because that word is sort of pivotal, so to speak.’ ” In the end, Wright said, he got his way.
At the after-party at Balthazar, guests were treated to what seemed like never-ending food service that included crab salad, lobster ravioli, short ribs and French fries.
While pic’s star Keira Knightley avoided press at the restaurant, co-star James McAvoy said he was nervous about landing the role.
“ ‘The Last King of Scotland’ hadn’t come out yet, and nobody knew who the hell I was,” he said. “So I was very worried it would go to someone else.”
