At the “Good Luck Chuck” bow Wednesday, Lionsgate production prexy Michael Paseornek said when it came to the pic’s stars, Dane Cook and Jessica Alba, there was no holding back. “Dane and Jessica were game to do anything. There was no having to convince them to go for it. In fact, if anything, we had to say, ‘Can we do it again and not quite go for it that much,’ ” Paseornek said.
The slapstick comedy marked the directorial debut of Brett Ratner‘s longtime editor, Mark Helfrich, and Paseornek said Helfrich’s editing experience was a huge help on set. “He knew exactly what he wanted every day and he just got it.”
As for Dan Fogler, who co-stars as Cook’s best friend in the film, the Tony-winning thesp felt right at home playing a breast-obsessed plastic surgeon. “My dad’s a surgeon, so I knew the whole hospital thing going into it but I still did a lot of research,” he said. “I had a lot of breasts on my computer. There were pictures everywhere. It was very method.”
