NEW YORK — A bloodshot eye, five stitches and a broken cheekbone didn’t stop Arianna Huffington from celebrating the release of her latest book, “On Becoming Fearless,” and the launch of iVillage Cares, an online women’s issues initiative, on April 11.
Huffington, who sported sunglasses, hosted a lunch at Michael’s for an impressively diverse group of women, including Tina Brown, Nora Ephron, Fran Drescher and Lauren Bush.
“As you walked in today, you were looking at me and thinking, ‘Why are you wearing glasses?’ ” Huffington told the crowd. “So I thought of making up a fun story like I went hunting with Dick Cheney. But, I just have low blood sugar and exhaustion and fainted last Friday. I hit my head on my desk. It’s a cautionary tale to us type-A women.”
