Summit Entertainment has tapped Sandy Friedman as exec VP of operations for its nascent home entertainment arm.
Friedman brings years of experience in homevid operations to Summit. Most recently at Netflix, he will oversee Summit’s day-to-day disc production operations as well as retail distribution and replenishment.
As VP of content operations for Netflix, he worked to improve the online subscription service’s supply chain and helped build its movie streaming business. Prior to that two-year stint, Friedman spent eight years at DreamWorks home entertainment arm. He previously served in finance and operations for Warner Bros., Paramount, MGM/UA and Turner.
He is not related to Summit’s co-chairman and CEO, Rob Friedman.
Under Summit’s pact with Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Summit handles all aspects — sales, marketing and retail relationships — except physical distribution.
