MGM names international VP

Former Fox exec to oversee TV distribution

MGM’s worldwide TV group has named Christopher Ottinger exec VP of international TV distribution.

Based in Los Angeles, the 14-year global TV veteran will be chiefly responsible for MGM’s pay TV licensing and business-development activities outside the U.S. and Canada. But he’ll also get involved in the purchases of programs for international TV sales.

Ottinger, an attorney, was most recently exec VP for both Fox World and Fox TV Studios Intl., where he helped to produce 30 program formats, led by “Joe Millionaire” and “Beauty and the Geek.”

Before Fox, Ottinger spent nine years through 2005 as senior VP of business development and co-production for Paramount Intl. TV, managing foreign versions of “America’s Top Model,” “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy,” among others.

He started his industry career at MGM in 1993, serving for four years as executive director of business affairs for the studio’s international and domestic TV operations.

Ottinger reports to Gary Marenzi, co-president of MGM Worldwide TV.
