Playwright Alexandra Cunningham has signed a rich new overall deal with ABC Studios that keeps her on the staff of “Desperate Housewives” while developing new projects.

Cunningham, who first rose to fame via her critically acclaimed play “No. 11 (Blue and White),” has been with “Desperate Housewives” since the first season. Scribe will now serve as co-exec producer.

Under terms of the seven-figure deal, Cunningham may start developing for the studio as soon as next year.

Cunningham most recently served as supervising producer on “Housewives.” Her credits also include “Fastlane,” “Rome” and “Pasadena.” She got her TV start as a writer on “NYPD Blue.”

Before turning to TV, Cunningham, who recently signed with Endeavor, was a playwright-in-residence in the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at Julliard.
